October begins the month of the pagan holiday Samhain, or more commonly known as Halloween! A day where the veil is thin between the worlds, where ancestors and passed loved ones are remembered and thanked, Samhain is a powerful day for ritual as well. Although many people celebrate in various ways (such as having themed parties, passing out candy, or doing rituals), here are a few ideas to try to make your Samhain special!

Put up pictures of your passed loved ones! Displaying family and friends’ pictures on an altar or around the home at this time is a great way to keep their energy around you and their memories alive. If you have any of their belongings, such as a ring or pin, wear them with pride to carry them with you.

Take time to reflect on those you have loved in the past and lost; friends, family members, past loves. Honor them and thank them for their participation in your growth and the lives of others. Perform a nice ritual starting with a cleansing ritual bath or shower, lighting candles, and meditating on thoughts and memories. Write letters to them and express your love and gratitude.

Of course, these are simply ideas- if you’re looking for a spell to do or ways to enhance your ritual, consider looking at what The Busy Witch has to offer. As always, stay busy, witches!
