Hi, everyone! So, this post was supposed to be written a few months ago. My apologies, life has been crazy! Why has it been crazy, you ask? Well, get a load of this!
First of all, you might notice that this blog/website looks different. I bought my own domain BrynWolanski.com and I’m teaching myself how to make it look how I want it to. My background is 100% NOT in coding, programming, websites, etc. so it’s a slow process (very slow lol). I’m so proud of myself, though! I’ve been continuing to work part-time as a librarian while I explore and develop my business writing and creating wonderful experiences for people. I feel like things are coming together and it’s such a beautiful, hope-filled adventure.
I was hired to copy edit a book by artist (now author!) Sarah Rich called Poppy’s Apothecary Journey. I was happy to be part of the experience with Sarah and learned a lot about my editing process. You can check her book out here!
In April I went to the indie author event BookBash in Conneaut and was able to meet a lot of new people while hosting a blackout poetry and book bedazzling station. The indie author scene is a thriving and wonderful thing and I’m so excited that I’m part of it!
I’ve also been doing some awesome workshops and events for some local places in my area. In downtown Willoughby at indie bookstore The Viridian Bookshop, I’ve done Junk Journaling, Book Bedazzling, Speed Friending, a series on different aspects of being a Dungeon/Game Master, and I run different DnD one-shots! Also in downtown Willoughby, I’m leading some workshops at Enchanted Grove including Vision Boards (8/29) and DIY Oracle Decks (9/12)! I’m also presenting Intro to Creative Writing (9/22) and Vision Boards (12/10) at Mentor-on-the-Lake Library as well as Book Bedazzling (9/29) at the Wickliffe Public Library!
To say I’m a busy bee is an understatement! However, I’m thrilled for all of the opportunities I’ve had! Being able to encourage the self-improvement and growth of others and provide sources of connection are such huge components of what drives me.
On top of all that, in April I started writing (and running) a series of original 5e compatible one-shots based around different elements of Ohio history, urban legends, folklore, locations, etc. I’m currently working on my third one and will be releasing them in October for purchase on Kickstarter! (I haven’t announced that on my socials yet- surprise!) They’ve been very well-received for those that have play tested them for me. I’m so excited that I’ll have a publication under my belt! Stay tuned for that information that I’ll have in September!
I think that’s probably one of the more concise ways I could possibly summarize all of the awesome things I’ve been up to. Building the life of my dreams takes a lot of time and hard work, but it’s definitely paying off!
